In each post we’ll be talking about a habit, concept, skill, or idea that you may want to think about, or put into practice. I’ll give you references you can follow-up on and practical tips to try if you so choose.
The book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People: Powerful Lessons in Personal Change by Stephen Covey was very influential in my life and was the starting point for my journey of self-development. For the first several posts we’ll be using the habits from this book as a skeleton for the topics. I intend to present one of the habits, then follow-up with complementary writings and implementation ideas.
Remember – opportunity does not equal obligation. I’m sharing what has worked for me and what resonates with the talented people I coach. If it doesn’t resonate with you, take a pass. Hopefully other content will be more suitable.
If the suggestions feel overwhelming, start with something small. You don’t have to tackle every aspect of your life at once! In fact, you are valuable just the way you are. What’s also true is that we all have potential to grow.
I’ll be adding a summary at the end of each post under tl;dr. There will also be suggested reading and references under the heading ‘engineer your life’.
tl;dr
We’ll be using Stephen Covey’s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People as a launch pad. Take on what resonates with you, pass on that which doesn’t (maybe someday it will and you’ll find yourself revisiting it). Go at a pace that’s sustainable. You’re valuable, and by intentionally adding value to yourself, you’ll explore potential you never knew you had.
engineer your life
Pick up a copy of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey. It’s been in print for quite some time, so you’ll likely find a deal if you look.
